ABOUT OUR PARISH
О Нашој Парохији
“I am the light of the world; anyone who follows me will not be walking in the dark, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Our St. Sava Cathedral is part of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Midwestern America under the Omophor of his Grace Bishop Longin and is canonically and hierarchically an integral part of the Serbian Orthodox Church (Patriarchate), with its See in Belgrade, Serbia.
Our St. Sava Church has been part of the Milwaukee community since 1912. Little did our forebears know that their modest beginnings would grow to the glory of God and continue to nurture, comfort, inspire and richly bless so many of their descendants.
Through numerous organizations, our parish continues to honor and embrace the Holy Orthodox Faith, Serbian culture and traditions of our forebears.
With faith in God, we seek to:
Preserve, practice and proclaim the Holy Orthodox Faith with adherence to the teachings of Jesus Christ our Lord, the Apostles and the Holy Scripture
Serve our parishioners and our community
Grow our parish and welcome all who seek to partake in the spiritual and cultural offerings of the Serbian Orthodox faith.
TOUR OUR CATHEDRAL
All glory be to God! St. Sava Cathedral represents the highest development of the Serbian Orthodox form of classical Byzantine architecture in the United States. The mosaics in the holy altar area are replicas of the St. George Church in Oplenac, Serbia.
